Extractions are surgical removal of teeth which are sometimes necessary and important to your oral health. Teeth are usually removed in cases of non-restorable decays, infections, traumas/fractures or part of an orthodontic treatments plans. If you have teeth that needs to be removed, it is important to discuss with your dentist before the extraction about replacing these teeth should there be a need to do so. Teeth can be replaced by dentures, bridges or implants.
Here are tips to help prevent the need for a tooth extraction procedure.
In certain cases, grafting materials should be considered on the day of the surgery to help preserve the bone tissue around the extracted tooth especially in preparation for future implants. Please ask our dentists if you have any questions regarding teeth extraction and socket preservations.
All extractions are performed under local anesthesia.
Intravenous or oral sedation are also possible if required.
If a wisdom tooth doesn't have room to grow (impacted wisdom tooth), resulting in pain, infection or other dental problems, you'll likely need to have it extracted.
